By all means, you don't have to wear them all of the time. That being said, it is a good idea to wear them when you are sitting down, exercising, or at other times when you need to do so.

Can you wear them to bed? When you think that your sleeping position is the cause of your back pain, there is no reason why you should not wear your supports in bed.

You should also bear in mind that sitting on the sofa watching an excessive amount of TV, will contribute towards back pain. We all know how easy it is to start to slouch sitting on the sofa watching the latest release from Amazon Prime.

Other Alternative Remedies for Lower Back Pain

Fortunately, lower back pain responds well to alternative remedies. Most of us will have heard of arnica. This herbal and homeopathy remedy has been successfully used for a long time as a lower back pain treatment.

Arnica is natural and comes in many different forms. One of the best ways to use it, is to buy arnica gel. You can apply arnica gel several times per day without experiencing side effects. If you find that you need to “boost” your pain-killing regime, you can take homeopathy arnica pastilles. Just pop them under your tongue and they will help to reduce pain and lower your anti-inflammatory response.

What About A Back Massage?

Back Massage - YBPR

A back massage can certainly help to reduce back pain. If you decide to go down this route, it is a good idea to add some essential oils to your carrier oil.

The best carrier oil for back massages, is jojoba oil but you can also use almond oil. Adding just a few drops of essential oils can make a huge difference. The best oils include:

  • Ginger
  • Lemongrass
  • Lavender
  • Rosemary

When you carry out a back massage for someone, you should never touch the spine. Keep at least two inches away from the spine on either side. Damaging the spine is much easier than we think, and you should avoid it at all cost.

What About A Bath?

When you don't have anyone to give you a back massage, you can always take a bath. Whilst there are numerous bath lotions that claim that they can help to reduce back pain, it is best to use a natural product.

Weleda produces a range of natural bathing oils and other products that can help. Surprisingly, melting a whole soap made from natural honey is one of the best ways to reduce back pain when taking a bath. All of the goodness of the honey is absorbed through the skin.

If you don't have any natural honey soap, you can add one or two of essential oils. Lavender and ginger make a great combination when it comes to treating lower back pain using hot water. Make sure to only add about five drops to your bath.

Back Brace - YBPR

When you first realise you have a problem with lower back pain, it is best to use your back support and back brace as much as possible. They will not weaken you muscles. Instead, they will offer you extra support.

You can start using your back supports less when your back pain has significantly been reduced. But, remember that they are there as back up. There is no reason why you should not use them over extended periods of time when you are concerned about back pain whilst working from home.
